Okay, this has been in the back of mind for quite some time, so far back as when i got hooked on Bleach (about two years ago). I’ve always been facinated about them!!! I think the new bleach filler – zanpakuto rebellion arc (bleach 230+)   thats begun till they work on the original script of the Aizen arc – just made me cream my pants on how awsome they ARE!!!! What am I talking about??? A Zanpakuto!!!

The short and sweet version of WTF that ‘is’ is; A zanpakuto is a kind of a psychic sword, a funky japanese sword that is unique to each person that has amazing abilities depending on its user!! (for anyone bothered enough to care for more information [someone like me!] here’s the wiki link!)

So here i am… FINALLY CREATING FOR MYSELF A ZANPAKUTOU TO CALL MY OWWWN!!! *screams/shouts/jumps/up and down/squeals like a girl* Not only that, i’ve actually come up with a Zanpakuto I’m worthy of…If you are Bleach Fan as well… GIVE YOURS A TRY AS WELL!! I DID THIS IN LESS THAN 6 hours after thinking about it for a good 2 days?

ZANPAKUTO: KYUTENSASU (LIGHT OF HEAVEN)

Name – Kyutensasu
Literal interpretation (Romaji) – Heavenly Light of Fire
Zanpakutou type – Kidou based
Zanpakutou Abilities – Light related
Blade type – Single-edged long-sword
Sword type – Specialized Japanese katana (commonly referred to as a ‘Daitchi’)
Total sword length + weight – 77 cm + 777 g

Physical Manifestation – Sword

Kyutensasu in its fully sealed state resembles a daitchi type katana; an exceptionally lengthy Japanese sword with a slightly angular single edged blade. However, its characteristic elements are as follows:
• A perfect mirror-like clarity of steel.
• A sharp edge that is made of minute threads of metal that shines like diamond dust.
• A guard made up of two 2cm flat silver halo’s within each other.
• A surreal spectral glow about the metal of the sword.
• Its handle is composed of reflective leather with silver threadwork.
• Its sheath is composed of a mirror like polished wooden scabbard with silver detailing.
• Its sling (used over the shoulder) is composed of a braid made of grey leather and silver thread.

Physical Manifestation – Soul

The soul of Kyutensasu manifests itself in spirit form as an ethereal being; a barely discernable human silhouette within a bright blinding light that engulfs its immediate surroundings. The Zanpakutou’s presence and permeating light induces a sense of calm and security that is further enhanced by its slightly deep voice that is both comforting and cheery.
Something of note about Kyutensasu’s spiritual embodiment is that it has the unique ability to act of its own accord and manifest itself without any initiation from its wielder to interact with other beings.

Physical Manifestation – Human

Kyutensasu in its human (or severed) form manifests ‘himself’ as a singular angelic host which sets himself apart from average human with his exceptional height, handsome features and large wings composed of the same white light the sword shimmers in.

In more detail, Kyutensasu towers at a seven foot height while possessing exceptional and perfect
facial features besides his lean muscular build; His body also seems to be covered in one large tattoo that has incandescent and malleable qualities. Kyutensasu’s eyes appear blue grey color but sparkles in many different colors in the light. He also possesses a silvery mid-length mane that’s loosely tucked behind his ears with a small fraction falling over his face.

Clothing wise, Kyutensasu wears a unique chain mail vest that covers his upper body and a simple white kilt with silver-thread detailing together with a platinum armlet and belt bearing a symbol of a thick lined circle that radiates with seven equal lines. Kyutensasu also carries his sword slung over his left shoulder.

Abilities

Kyutensasu is in its sealed state is best suited for offensive combat in an open space due to its great length as it may limit movement and attacks in close combat offence or defense. Kyutensasu’s ultimate effect is achieved in the daytime or in areas with great amounts of light, however its light is most impressive in the night or dark areas.

Shikai

Initiator – Kagaya Kiwataru, Kyutensasu (shine, light-of-heaven)
Literal interpretation (Romaji) – Shine Out Far and Wide, Heavens Fire Light

When its first release is initiated, Kyutensasu’s blade radiates till it glows like a white hot pillar of light. The guard too transforms from its two flat rings; the larger ring of the two travels down to be attached to the hilt of the blade, dragging with it a thick ribbon of bright white light that unravels itself dramatically from the blade once its reached the hilt. The smaller ring transfigures from its ring into a million flickering rays that extend close to two inches from the hilt.

Kyutensasu’s is an extremely malleable Zanpakutou to its wielders requirements in Shikai; As it is a Kidou based Zanpakutou its blade can detach itself from its handle and be movable or easily replaced as the wielder wishes. Also as it is uses a great arsenal of light-based attacks and defenses, it is also able to manipulate the light in its surrounding environment to the wielder’s advantage. Further adding to this arsenal, the blade of Kyutensasu is able to sear right through flesh, bone, spirit and chain with ease.

Shikai Abilties

• Akari-Sokko (Light Speed) –
Essentially the ability to move at the speed of light, Akari-Sokko imbibes the wielder with an automatic increase in movement and reflex speed.

• Itoyu Kiyutsuri (Shimmering Distraction) –
Kyutensasu can cause temporary illusions utilizing the reiatsu released from its guard and within the area it is released.

• Ko Bo (Beam of Light) –
The wielder is able to separate its blade of concentrated reiatsu from the hilt and move it in any direction or shoot them like beams in variable sizes and numbers or maneuver in any direction the wielder wishes it to travel. Combining Ko-Bo with knowledge on projectile weaponry, the wielder is able to accomplish attacks possible with weapons like guns, arrows or spears.

• Sasu-Genso Tachikomeru (Shroud of Light) –
Using the tail of Kyutensasu; the sash of light, the wielder of Kyutensasu can wrap himself in it and become invisible to the naked eye through the illusion of light. When combined with Akari-Sokko, Sasu-Genso Tachikomeru becomes a formidable weapon for stealth attacks and reconnaissance both in light and dark environments.

• Ju-ten Sasu (Replenishing Light) –
Ju-ten Sasu is Kyutensasu’s most amazing ability. When initiated, the sword draws to itself light and spirit particles from its surroundings and transfers it to its tail which could be used either to replenish the wielders energy or as a healing device that revives and revitalizes from ailments and allows people to heal from injuries at an unusually rapid rate.

Tenkai

Kyutensasu is able to further enhance its arsenal with an additional ability that is of higher capability than its Shikai and somewhat lower than its Bankai; another unique release dubbed ‘Tenkai’ (or second release). Tenkai does not require an initiating incantation as the initial and final releases but simply a call to ability of sorts as in Shikai.

Tenkai Abilties

• Hizashi Taiho (Sun-Ray Cannon) –
Hizashi Taiho is an enhanced version of Kyutensasu’s shikai ability; Ko Bo. When initiated, each of the seven swords can shoot beams of super-concentrated reiatsu in any possible number, combination, angle and length the wielder requires.

Bankai

Initiator – Mewokuramasu Marunomi, Senshibantai Kyutensasu
(Blind and Engulf, Endless Light of Heaven)
Literal interpretation (Romaji) – Blind the Eyes and Swallow Whole, Endless Variety of Light

When initiated, the sword hovers parallel to the ground in front of its wielder before it starts to spin in a complete circle around him constantly increasing in speed and slowly radiating in brightness till the surrounding area is engulfed in a hot bright white light for miles. This blinding light can also be subdued afterwards depending on the wielder’s prerogative, but it gradually fades to display Kyutensasu spinning to a slower speed only to reveal not one but many swords.

In its final release, Kyutensasu seems to have lost its tail and duplicated itself into seven swords that spin in one single circle around the wielder. Each blade present seems to be a duplicate of Kyutensasu with the same ethereal glow as before but slight variations in color are now noticeable in each blade. Each of these blades holds specific significance to Kyutensasu as they build upon its shikai capacities besides the unique abilities present here.

Bankai Abilties

• Okuman Ho-Sekibako (million_suns jewel-case) –
Kyutensasu’s ultimate attack, when Okuman Ho-Sekibako is initiated, the seven blades present in the halo around its wielder release itself from its guided path to create a ring from hilt to blade that start spinning to create a vacuum of light and spirit particles that starts to collect and assemble itself with its wielder at the center. The orb of blinding light keeps expanding till it captures its target in its hot, blinding prison of light.

Once caught within Okuman Ho-Sekibako the target has no way of getting out unless he is able to break any one of its seven sides using superior physical strength alone as it is able to draw light and energy particles from its targets attacks and reiatsu to further strengthen its walls. Furthermore, this attack is only possible if the victim is able to withstand the oppressive heat and blinding light within it.
Also, once inside the prison of light, the victim is at the mercy of the weilder who can use any one of Kyutensasu’s Shikai abilities as well as direct strikes with a sword that can sear skin, spirit and bone off one’s body with a simple slide.
